Vince Zampella, who helped create the wildly popular video game Call of Duty, has died in a car accident in California he was 55 years old.

His passing was verified by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, the development studio he co-founded.

The celebrated video game developer died after his car crashed and was engulfed in flames on a freeway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday morning, according to.
