President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the family of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the presidential home.

He added that he conversed with her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Gatherings across the state have occurred in their memory.

Presidential Call

The president said he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both members of the state Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president addressed the press. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”

Public Response

Attendees came together over the weekend at the high school in the state to honor Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s government program to aid law enforcement in the capital.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“Sarah was the type of pupil that instructors hoped for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the press. “She was kind, caring and always eager to assist people.”

Funeral plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Steps and Policy Adjustments

Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old suspect with one count of murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.

The incident led the government to pause refugee claims and halt providing entry permits to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, per the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor the governor stated on television.

Attorney general Bondi informed a news show that she aimed to visit the family.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a law enforcement officer with honor, according to the military.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had fortitude,” Morrisey told the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
