Former Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a former physician stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Grave Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 charges he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
Authorities have asked individuals with information to get in touch with the relevant police force.
