Esteemed Actor Pat Finn, Famed For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at the Age of Sixty.
American entertainer Pat Finn, who featured in beloved television series like Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has succumbed aged 60.
The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in LA on Monday having undergone cancer treatment since 2022, per reports.
"He saw everyone as a friend - only friends he didn't know yet," his loved ones shared in a statement.
They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
A Prolific Television Career
His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the lead character's sibling.
He subsequently landed a regular part on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.
He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, playing a social organizer who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.
Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of hit series, including:
- King of Queens
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- "House"
His most famous role for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.
His work in movies include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
Off-Screen Life
Away from his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was involved with a comedy group of six named "Beer Shark Mice".
"Pat guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.
Offering condolences, peer actor Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote online.
Finn is survived by his partner Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
