Raducanu advanced to round three in three out of four Grand Slams this year.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has pulled out of her final two events this season because of a health issue she has been fighting for the last week and a half.

Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to rest and recuperate ahead of launching next year's training.

These plans will involve trainer Francisco Roig, as both individuals will keep partnering in 2026.

The tennis professional had her blood pressure taken while playing the initial match against Ann Li in Wuhan and retired when losing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She needed once more a doctor's assessment at the recent Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the third set versus Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has been a concern at times this year.

These outcomes meant an encouraging season, in which the player advanced into the international top 30 after more than three years for the first time since 2022, finished with a trio of defeats.

She held three match points then was defeated by Pegula in the third round in the Beijing tournament last month.

The player achieved twenty-eight matches this year and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but her most impressive week was at the Miami Open in March.

Ranked first in Britain advanced to the quarters of the WTA 1000 event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route before losing in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

She worked with trainer Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in ahead of the US Open.

The original arrangement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was until the end of the season but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled in the coming months.

She mentioned that a three-day test period alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

She came very close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at the first competition with Roig in Cincinnati during August.

Roig joined her in the New York tournament, where she reached the third round before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
